About the Wine

In crafting our Cabernet Franc, we set out with a bold ambition: to defy the norm and create a wine that pays homage to the illustrious Loire Valley tradition. Our goal? To unveil the savory essence and intricate layers of floral and vegetal notes that define this storied varietal. Nestled within our head-trained, dry-farmed vineyard in the heart of Paso Robles, we've harnessed nature's bounty to produce a wine of unparalleled character. Despite the scorching sun that blankets our region, Brett's meticulous approach has yielded a remarkably restrained alcohol content of 13.7%. It's a testament to our commitment to authenticity and balance. Dubbed "Irreverence," our wine was conceived with the notion that its style might be deemed a touch unconventional. We anticipated a divide among enthusiasts – some embracing its geeky allure, while others recoiled at its departure from the mainstream. Yet, as we conducted tasting trials, a delightful revelation emerged: the lovers of our irreverent creation far outnumbered the naysayers. As if to underscore our defiance of convention, the label proudly features a striking photograph – a vintage snapshot capturing the essence of heritage and innovation. Julie's 103-year-old grandfather, the visionary behind the original Plaza Bottle Shop in the Bay Area, takes center stage. Originally captured in timeless black and white during a tasting demonstration, we breathed new life into the image with vibrant colorization and a touch of mid•point winery flair.

Tasting Notes

The wine gracefully showcases hints of green herbal notes, while maintaining a well-balanced composition of structural tannins and acidity. Designed with a medium body and a satisfying tight structure on the palate, it is recommended to give it time and aeration for optimal softening and expression. Nose: vibrant bramble fruit aromas, with bramble blackberry standing out as the star performer, reminiscent of a sun-drenched berry patch in late summer. Palate: invigorating freshness, characterized by its green and elegant undertones. Sage emerges gracefully, blending seamlessly with the green herbal nuances to create a harmonious profile that's captivating without being overpowering. Woody tones weave their magic subtly, presenting a grounded character without the dominance of overt oakiness. Texture: delicate, soft mouthfeel. Yet, the underlying tannic structure is unmistakable, ensuring a robust backbone that promises longevity suitable for aging. Alcohol: 13.7% Serving Note: if drinking in the next year or two we recommend decanting for 30 minutes to 3 hours. You won't be disappointed. Otherwise stash in your cellar and enjoy the evolution over what should be a long aging window.
