About the Wine
The 2023 Albariño comes from Santa Ynez Vineyard, located in the Happy Canyon AVA. This region is known for its arid and warm climate, which contributes to the wine’s unique characteristics. The start of the 2023 harvest was delayed compared to previous years, due to an abundant winter rains and a relatively cool summer season. The grapes were harvested on three separate occasions (3 weeks later than the 2022 harvest), on Sept. 7th to retain the freshness and natural acidity, and the 13th and 15th to maximize ripeness, aromatics, and flavor. Prior to pressing, the grapes were foot-trodded, a traditional technique used to enhance the wine’s texture and aromatics. It was fermented with wild yeast in a stainless steel tank with no additions. Following fermentation, the wine was aged for 6 mos. in neutral French oak and stainless steel barrels. The wine is unfined and unfiltered, and no S02 was added until bottling, ensuring the wine’s purity and authenticity.
