J. Lohr is a family-owned California winery with more than 50 years of history and a commitment to sustainable growing practices, farming estate vineyards from Paso Robles to Monterey County. Falcon's Perch is sourced from cool-climate vineyards in and around the Arroyo Seco and Santa Lucia Highlands appellations of Monterey County; the 2022 grapes were harvested in September 2022, roughly 15% whole-cluster fermented in open-top and upright tanks with a short skin-contact period, then aged 90% in stainless steel and 10% in second- and third-fill French oak.
Tasting Notes
Bright strawberry, raspberry and watermelon fruit meet clove and sagebrush on the nose, the hallmark spicy-strawberry character of Monterey County Pinot Noir. Delicate tannins on the mid-palate give way to dried cherry and black tea on the finish. 90 points, Wine Enthusiast (Best Buy).
