Chateau la Gironie is a Monbazillac estate in the Dordogne valley of South-West France; the label reads "Produit de France - Producteur depuis 1740", proprietors B & F Pelletant, Pomport, 24240. The wine is a blend of 80% Semillon, 15% Sauvignon and 5% Muscadelle. Grapes are hand-harvested with successive sortings (tries), the Semillon deliberately left on the vine to develop Botrytis, the noble rot that concentrates the sugars. It is made only in exceptional years. 12.5% vol., estate-bottled (mise en bouteille au chateau).
