Maison Noir Wines is Andre Hueston Mack's Oregon garage wine project (a micro-negociant) focusing on specific terroirs in Oregon by sourcing the best fruit possible from the Willamette Valley to produce wines which show the individuality of their respective sites. Free Gamay is a throwback to the days when Gamay was the workhorse of Burgundy, producing quality wines for a reasonable price. Fruit is sourced from several of the finest vineyards across a variety of Willamette Valley appellations - it is that combination of grapes from different appellations that creates a wine that is broad and complex with many layers. 100% Gamay Noir. Winemaking: a seven-day cold soak with an additional 18 days of skin contact, fermented in stainless steel. Alcohol 12.8%; pH 3.41; total acid 5.1 g/L; residual sugar 0.22 g/L (figures from the producer's own tech sheet).
