Profile & Story
The Rougier family's Château Simone is one of the handful of producers working the tiny Palette appellation in Provence, farming vines on north-facing, limestone-scree slopes, some over fifty years old and a few more than a century. The Blanc is built mainly from Clairette (80%), with Grenache Blanc (10%), Bourboulenc (5%), Ugni Blanc (3%) and a touch of Muscat Blanc (2%), aged in small oak casks for around 18 months, including time on the fine lees.
Tasting Notes
Pale gold with floral and fruity aromas lightened by a fine woody touch in its youth; the palate is age-worthy, with a resinous, pine-forest edge that gives way over time to a richer, old-gold character and a long mineral finish.
