Profile & Story

Giovanni Panizzi purchased the Podere Santa Margherita estate just outside the medieval walls of San Gimignano in 1979, releasing his first vintage in 1989; since 2005 the property has been led by Simone Niccolai, continuing Panizzi's original focus on Vernaccia di San Gimignano, Italy's first wine to be awarded DOC status (1966) and later DOCG (1993). This bottling is 100% Vernaccia.

Tasting Notes

Bright aromas of lime, elderflower and yellow melon with subtle floral and almond notes; the palate is crisp and medium-bodied, with lively acidity and the saline minerality characteristic of San Gimignano's sandy, marine-origin soils.
