Clos Venturi comprises a 28-hectare vineyard within the Corsican estate of Domaine Vico, planted at 400 metres above sea level on a sandstone hill in Ponte-Leccia. Winemaker Emmanuel (Manu) Venturi and his father Jean-Marc separated this plot from Domaine Vico after identifying the potential of its ancient sandstone soils and sheltered position; the vineyard is worked with sheep, chickens and beehives for natural fertility and biodiversity, and ploughed by horsepower to reduce soil compaction. The '1769' name references the Battle of Ponte-Novu, where Corsica's independence movement fell to French annexation. The Blanc is built primarily on 45-year-old Vermentinu vines, blended with Biancu Gentile, Riminese, Genovese and Carcaghjolu Blanc, made with extended skin contact and indigenous-yeast fermentation in temperature-controlled, neutral vessels, then aged eight months on fine lees in stainless steel for added texture. ABV 13%.
