Domaine de Vaccelli was founded in the early 1960s by Roger Courreges on the granite hillsides of Cognocoli-Monticchi in the Taravo valley, between Ajaccio and Propriano; his son Alain took over in 1974, and the estate (now roughly 20 hectares) is run today by third-generation winemaker Gerard Courreges. All vineyard work is done by hand on vines ten to sixty years old, and the domaine has been fully organic since 2008 (Ecocert certified). This Ajaccio Rouge is 100% Sciaccarellu grown on granite soils and aged 20 months in half-muids (500L barrels).
