Domaine Vico was founded in 1901 in Ponte-Leccia, in the mountainous center of Corsica, with vineyards cultivated above 300 metres elevation on complex soils of schist, basalt, galets roulés, gravel and clay. Manu Venturi's father Jean-Marc acquired the estate in 1987 and rebuilt it over decades before passing it to Manu, who runs the domaine as one of France's leading biodynamic producers of native Corsican wines. 'Forca di Pero' ('the fork of the pear tree') references the various estate plots contributing to the blend. The Corse Rouge is 60% Niellucciu, 40% Sciaccarellu from schist-and-basalt terroir on southeast-facing sites with 30+ year old vines; 10% whole-cluster, indigenous-yeast fermentation, aged 18 months in concrete, unfined and unfiltered.
