Terrazze dell'Etna was founded in 2008 by Nino Bevilacqua on the northern slopes of Mount Etna, farming 36 hectares of estate vineyards, olive and fruit trees at 600-950 meters altitude. 'Ciuri' (Sicilian for 'flower') is an unusual white wine made from the white vinification ('in bianco') of Nerello Mascalese, a red grape -- labeled simply 'Vino Bianco' since Nerello Mascalese isn't permitted under the Etna Bianco DOC. The wine reflects the volcanic minerality, altitude and maritime influence of its Etna terroir.
