At Orixe Sotelo, making wine is about honoring the history of how vines came to flourish in California and expanding that deeply rooted wine culture through the "lens" of Spanish grape varietals. Our project represents a long-time dream to craft fine wines made from Spanish varieties, grown in California terroirs. Orixe (o-REE-shay) is a Galician word from Latin “origo” meaning: “beginning, source, birth, origin”. Our name, Sotelo, originates in the coastal mountains of Galicia, Spain. We see Orixe Sotelo wines as a vehicle to explore and reinterpret my heritage.
