Barone Pizzini pioneered organic viticulture in Franciacorta, becoming the first certified-organic grower and winemaker in the region in 1997. Animante (current release: XIII Tiratura) blends Chardonnay (64%), Pinot Noir (22%), Pinot Bianco (9%) and the rare native Erbamat (5%) sourced from 25 estate vineyard sites at 200-300m elevation with an average vine age of 20 years, then refined on lees for 20-30 months before disgorgement.
Tasting Notes
A traditional-method Franciacorta built on organically farmed Chardonnay with Pinot Noir, Pinot Bianco and Erbamat: expect fresh orchard and citrus fruit, a fine, persistent mousse, and the bready, mineral complexity typical of extended lees aging, balanced by vibrant acidity.
