Parable Wines. Rising high above the valley floor to the crest of the Mayacamas Mountains, the Bald Mountain Vineyard is an extreme, high-elevation site straddling the rugged ridgelines of Mt. Veeder. Perched up to 1,800 feet above sea level, these dramatic, sun-drenched blocks sit above the morning fog, cooled by constant marine breezes. The vineyard's fractured volcanic basalt rock and poor, well-draining soils force the roots deep into the mountain, yielding fruit of extraordinary concentration. Whether producing electric, mineral-driven Chardonnay or structural, intense mountain reds, Bald Mountain delivers a captivating expression of wild elegance and pure volcanic terroir. Appellation: Mt. Veeder, Napa Valley. Vineyard: Bald Mountain Vineyard. Varietal: 100% Syrah. Harvest Date: October 5, 2022. Alcohol: 14.5%. Fermentation: Destemmed and crushed; three pumpovers daily; primary and malolactic fermentation finished in four weeks. Aging: 22 months in 60% new French oak and 40% used French oak barrels. The fruit was hand-harvested in the early morning to preserve freshness.
