About the Wine
This extraordinary blend of traditional Portuguese port varieties spans 15 years, and represents an authentic tawny style dessert wine. This singular commitment was embarked upon in 2006 with the laying down of a barrel or two of our finest port grapes and continued only in exceptional vintages. All the while driven by the desire to create a great Tawny “Port”. A wine for the ages, this will not be repeated. Touriga Nacional 60%, Tinta Cao 32%, Souzoa 8%.
Tasting Notes
As with great wine, it is no wonder that fine port is sipped and savored to enjoy a moment of contemplation in what is our fast-paced lives of today. Such the array of flavors and sensations unfold along and across the palate. Lustrously rich and full bodied, yet at the same time smooth and complex from the long, long, barrel ageing. Mulberry, honeyed fruit, and fig newtons all meld into what is a gorgeously mellow and satisfying delight, an experience to savor. The definition of a long finish. Serve cool between cellar temp and 65 degrees, in other words, under room temperature for sure. Don’t panic, once opened the wine will stay fresh for four to six weeks when kept in the fridge.
Pairing Notes
A classic pairing for this beauty is Stilton cheese with Adelaida walnuts. Of course, most rich desserts work such as sticky toffee puddings, bread and butter pudding and really any dried or reduced fruit compote. Essentially a dessert in its own right.
