Château Canadel is an organic (AB-Ecocert certified) estate in Le Plan du Castellet, within the Bandol appellation of Provence, where vines have grown for centuries; a modern winery was built on the property in 2014, and the estate, sheltered by a natural cirque from the Mistral, is dedicated to revealing the character of its terroir, with Mourvèdre, the emblematic grape of Bandol, at the heart of its identity. Their 2023 Bandol Rosé is a blend of 50% Mourvèdre, 40% Cinsault, and 10% Grenache, awarded a Gold Medal at the 2023 Concours Général Agricole (Salon de l'Agriculture).
Tasting Notes
Young, the wine shows delicate aromas of citrus zest and exotic fruit; after a year in bottle it evolves toward candied citrus and spice. On the palate it is intense, elegant, fresh, and generous, revealing peach and spice with a fine saline touch and a hint of bitterness, closing on a long, intense, fresh finish; with further aging it gains fuller body while retaining its fresh, saline structure. The producer describes it as a great aging, gastronomic rosé.
