Owned by the Boudier family for five generations, Domaine Jean-Baptiste Boudier is rooted in the rural traditions of Pernand-Vergelesses in Burgundy's Côte de Beaune, pursuing a constant quest for truth and excellence with the greatest respect for the region's terroirs. This Aloxe-Corton comes from the "Les Combes" climat, a one-hectare parcel of Pinot Noir planted in 1942 at the head of a narrow valley at 245 meters elevation, where deep, well-draining soil of fine brown clay over colluvial and alluvial deposits gives the wine its character. The grapes are hand-harvested and double-sorted, both in the vineyard and on the sorting table, then fermented for ten to fourteen days with a portion of whole clusters and indigenous yeasts before aging fourteen to twenty months in French oak barrels, of which fifteen to twenty-five percent are new; the wine is left unfined, with only light filtration applied if needed, and bottled according to the lunar calendar.
