Profile & Story
Since 1888 the Antica Distilleria Bordiga has produced spirits in Cuneo, Piedmont, using artisanal methods and original recipes. The historic Excelsior, reintroduced for the distillery's 130th anniversary, is made from Nebbiolo from Barolo aged three years in oak barrels, with a 40-50 day production process and 15-20 days of cellar rest.
Tasting Notes
Deep ruby-red. The nose is intense and spiced; the palate is decided and vinous, very long, evolving from an initial sweet note into a persistent, slightly tannic bitterness with spiced hints.
Pairing Recommendation
Serve at 10-12 C; pairs with blue and/or aged cheeses, and features in a Manhattan.
