From 1928, Jean Avril — Juliette Avril's father — helped shape the founding rules of the Châteauneuf-du-Pape appellation. The family domaine today farms 18 hectares of vines in the appellation. This red is a Grenache-based Southern Rhône blend (around 75% Grenache with Syrah and Mourvèdre).
Tasting Notes
Deep, intense color ranging from ruby to garnet. A complex, aromatic nose of ripe red fruits such as cherry, raspberry and blackberry. On the palate it is powerful and fleshy, with a fine tannic structure.
Pairing Recommendation
Pairs with grilled meats, dishes in sauce, game, lamb and beef, and mature cheeses.
