Apollo's Praise was founded in 2023 by winemaking couple Kelby James Russell and Julia Rose Hoyle, who farm the Lahoma Vineyard on the west side of Seneca Lake - an unusual sandstone-influenced site. The Dry Riesling is their flagship wine and the clearest demonstration of what Lahoma can do: an opulent style built on the site's ripeness and sandstone, given backbone in the cellar through cold-soaking, slow fermentation, and a mix of barrel- and tank-fermented components - 'enjoyable straight away, but imminently age-worthy.'
Tasting Notes
Smokey lemon and lime aromas explode from the glass, with passionfruit and tropical undertones. This leads to a dry, structured mid-palate that overlays grapefruit pith with creme brulee richness before a long, mineral finish of Meyer lemon. (Producer notes for the Lahoma Vineyard Dry Riesling.)
