Profile & Story

Azimut is the natural-wine project of the Suriol family's Cellers de Can Suriol del Castell, based at Castell de Grabuac, a fifteenth-century farmhouse in the Penedes that the family has farmed since the 1600s. Assis Suriol, the current winemaker, produces Azimut from his own certified-organic fruit alongside grapes from neighboring organic growers. Brisat, the traditional Catalan term for skin-contact wine, is made from Parellada, Sumoll Blanc, Garnatxa Blanca and Moscatell, fermented with native yeasts and left five days on the skins before three months of aging in underground concrete tanks. It is bottled unfined and unfiltered.

Tasting Notes

A golden orange wine with aromas of dried apricot and orange zest. The palate is textural and refreshing, with bright acidity and salinity alongside notes of citrus, honey, almond and orange flower, finishing clean and dry.
