Celler Barbara Fores is a family winery in Gandesa, Terra Alta, named for Barbara Fores, born there in 1828, whose son Rafael Ferrer Fores began bottling wine at the family's home in the late nineteenth century. In the 1990s, Carmen Ferrer and Manolo Sanmartin took over the estate and became pioneering winemakers in Terra Alta, building the project around Garnacha Blanca; their daughter Pili Sanmartin Ferrer joined in 2014 as the sixth generation since Barbara Fores herself. The Blanc is 100% Garnacha Blanca, given a cold skin maceration before pressing and a spontaneous, wild-yeast fermentation in stainless steel, followed by a brief aging on its lees.
