Vignoble Gilbert Chon has been a Chon family estate since 1670, rooted at the Chateau de la Jousseliniere in the heart of the Muscadet vineyards near Nantes. Gilbert and Anne Chon settled here in 1970, tending a seventeenth-century chapel, a neo-Norman-style cellar and some twenty hectares of vines on granite and schist soils, now carried forward by the next generations of the family. Perle Bleue is made from Folle Blanche, the historic grape of the Gros-Plant du Pays Nantais appellation, an increasingly rare corner of the Nantais vineyard, farmed for low yields to preserve the wine's freshness.
