G.D. Vajra is a family estate in the hamlet of Vergne, in the commune of Barolo, founded by Aldo Vajra, one of the earliest adopters of organic farming in Piedmont. Albe is a blend of high-elevation Barolo DOCG vineyard sites, entirely Nebbiolo. Grapes are hand-sorted before fermentation in vertical tini with gentle punch-downs and pump-overs, undergoing long macerations. The wine completes spontaneous malolactic fermentation before aging two years in large Slavonian oak casks.

Tasting Notes

Garnet red with a lively core. The nose opens with fresh, crushed flowers, bright Nebbiolo aromatics, and light balsamic notes. Vibrant and energetic on the palate, with rose petal, fresh red fruit, spice, tobacco, and orange peel, closing long with fine, velvety tannins.
