Chateau Patris has been owned by the Querre family (Michel and Genevieve, now succeeded by the next generation) since 1967, on the southwest slope of the Saint-Emilion hillside directly bordering the vineyards of Chateau Angelus. The 11.5-hectare estate is planted at high density (5,400 vines/hectare) on sandy soil over a clay-limestone subsoil, farmed under 'lutte raisonnee' (reasoned, minimal-intervention pest management) with extensive canopy work including green harvesting to limit yields. The blend is 75% Merlot, 15% Cabernet Sauvignon and 10% Cabernet Franc, hand-harvested at optimal ripeness and fermented with temperature control. The family's consistent quality across vintages has earned recognition and numerous medals over the years.
