Profile & Story
Caruso & Minini farms the red soils of the Salemi area near Marsala on Sicily's western coast, a joint venture since 2004 between the Caruso and Minini families whose history traces to the late 1800s. This Marsala Superiore Riserva blends the two local vines Grillo and Catarratto, hand-harvested from hillside vineyards at 350m, and matures over five years in small Slavonian oak or cherry barrels followed by at least three months in bottle. 18% ABV, 3 g/L sugar.
Tasting Notes
Bright amber color with fragrances of orange zest, dried apricot, dates and spices; soft, harmonious and persistent on the palate with raisin and vanilla notes, honey and dehydrated fruit in the finish.
Pairing Recommendation
Pumpkin tortelli, blue and soft cheeses, foie gras, prawns, and ricotta and chocolate-based dishes.
