Profile & Story
Fonseca has shipped Port since 1815; Bin 27 was created in 1972 as a premium reserve blend named for a bin in the company's Vila Nova de Gaia lodge. It shares the heritage of Fonseca's Vintage Ports but is aged in large oak vats and bottled ready to drink, so it needs no decanting.
Tasting Notes
Young, deep ruby colour. Intense, rich and fruity nose, full of blackberry, cassis, cherry and plum with hints of spice. Full-bodied and round, with a soft velvety texture, firm tannins, and a delicious rich finish.
Pairing Recommendation
Very well suited to the classic Port and cheese combination, particularly a good farmhouse cheddar; also delicious with dark chocolate or berry-fruit desserts.
