Profile & Story
La Caravelle is a proprietary Champagne label created by Rita and Andre Jammet, owners of the landmark La Caravelle restaurant in New York (1960-2004); the wine is elaborated by De Castellane in Epernay. Cuvée Niña, named for one of Columbus's ships, blends 36% Chardonnay, 29% Pinot Noir and 35% Pinot Meunier with reserve wines kept in solera, aged three years on the lees. 12% ABV.
Tasting Notes
Lively gold color with fine, generous bubbles. The bouquet shows dried tropical fruit, pear, subtle brioche and apricot pit, with flavors of white peaches, pears and pain d'epices gingerbread.
Pairing Recommendation
A well-balanced Champagne suited to drinking throughout an entire meal.
