Taylor Fladgate, established in 1692 in Vila Nova de Gaia, is one of the most respected Port houses, best known for its Vintage Ports. Its 10 Year Old Tawny is blended from extensive reserves of cask-aged Ports selected from the Cima Corgo and Douro Superior, made from Touriga Nacional, Touriga Franca, Tinta Barroca, Tinta Roriz, Tinto Cao and Tinta Amarela, matured a full 10 years in seasoned oak casks of about 630 liters in the firm's Gaia lodges. Residual sugar of 110 g/L.
Tasting Notes
Deep brick color with an amber rim. A rich, elegant nose of ripe berry fruit with delicate nuttiness and subtle notes of chocolate, butterscotch and fine oak. Smooth and silky on the palate, with ripe figgy, jammy flavors persisting on a long finish.
Pairing Recommendation
Pairs particularly well with almonds, berry fruit or dark chocolate, and with rich, blue-veined cheeses; classically served at the end of the meal, alone or with roasted almonds or walnuts.
