Profile & Story
New York Malmsey was among the first two wines of the Rare Wine Co. Historic Series, released 2002. Blend is over 85% Malvasia with a portion of very old wine, fermented to 96-135 g/L sugar before fortification, raised entirely in cask by the canteiro method; the Special Reserve designation requires an average age over ten years. Bottled at 19.5% alcohol.
Tasting Notes
Unfolds slowly in the glass, revealing layers of coffee, toffee and date notes, followed by earthy, almost truffley flavours - the sweetest wine of the Series.
Pairing Recommendation
Marries with an astonishing number of desserts, and can also be served during the meal with foie gras, sweetbreads, or any dish with a rich, sweet sauce.
