Profile & Story

Founded in Scandiano in 1925 by Alfredo Bertolani, the winery remains family-owned into its fourth generation. Rosso all'Antica is sourced from hillside and foothill vineyards in Reggio Emilia (250-500 ft elevation, alluvial soils of gravel, lime, clay and sand) and represents the winery's best Lambrusco selections of the vintage -- a blend of Ancellotta, Lambrusco Marani, and Lambrusco Salamino. It undergoes a longer maceration than other Bertolani Lambruscos (about 7 days) to extract deeper tannin and color, then is fermented in temperature-controlled stainless steel with the Charmat method for refermentation. ABV 11.5%.

Tasting Notes

Deep ruby red in color, Rosso all'Antica harmonizes structure with the classic liveliness of Lambrusco, offering aromas of ripe black plum, raspberry, sweet mint and river cobble, with black cherry and slight effervescence on the palate.

Pairing Recommendation

Pairs perfectly with sausages, roasts and game; its body and balance also stand up to braised and grilled meats.
