Col d'Orcia is an estate on the hill overlooking the Orcia River between Sant'Angelo in Colle and Montalcino, with vineyards of limestone and marl soil at roughly 1,500 feet elevation. Spezieri, named for the master spice blenders of Renaissance Florence, is an organic blend of Sangiovese and Ciliegiolo from younger vineyards, macerated on the skins for 8-10 days, put through malolactic fermentation immediately after alcoholic fermentation, and bottled early to preserve freshness. Rafele serves this wine chilled.
