Christian Venier has made Cheverny AOC wines without chemical additives since his first vintage in 1995, after training in organic viticulture alongside cousin Thierry Puzelat in the early 1990s under teacher Christian Chaussard, part of an early cohort of Loire natural winemakers. He farms roughly fifteen hectares near Cheverny and Cour-Cheverny, keeps added sulfur to a self-imposed cap he rarely uses, and describes himself as more a peasant than a winemaker, focusing his effort on the vines rather than the cellar.
