Stephan Steinmetz has run this family winery in the southern Mosel, near the Luxembourg border, since 1992, now working alongside his wife Petra and their children. Uniquely for the Mosel, the estate's vineyards sit on shell-limestone rather than slate, and Steinmetz focuses almost exclusively on Elbling and Burgundy varieties — deliberately omitting Riesling — crafting uncompromisingly dry wines through traditional handwork, extended lees aging, and minimal mechanical intervention.
