Altos las Hormigas was founded in 1995 by winemaker Alberto Antonini and entrepreneur Antonio Morescalchi, pioneers of terroir-driven Malbec in Mendoza. Malbec Clásico is 100% hand-harvested Malbec from Luján de Cuyo (80%) and Paraje Altamira in the Uco Valley (20%), fermented with native yeast in stainless steel and matured in concrete tanks for 9 months without oak.
Tasting Notes
Concentrated, vivid ruby red with reddish tints. The nose shows plum, forest floor, gunpowder, black pepper, eucalyptus and pink pepper; the palate is fresh with refined acidity and balanced tannins, medium-structured and juicy.
Pairing Recommendation
Recommended with classic red meats, pasta or grilled vegetables.
