Profile & Story

Sassicaia, first planted by Marchese Mario Incisa della Rocchetta in 1944 and released commercially from the 1968 vintage, is a Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc blend grown on the stony, calcareous-marl soils (100-360m) at Tenuta San Guido, Bolgheri. The 2022 saw soft pressing, 13-18 day macerations, spontaneous malolactic fermentation and about 23 months in wood.

Tasting Notes

Ripe red currant, blackberry and cedar with iron and dried-herb notes; vibrant acidity and fine tannins frame a long, polished finish with balsamic and spice.
