About the Wine

Les Cassagnes de La Nerthe Blanc 2023 is produced from a blend of Viognier, Grenache Blanc, Roussanne, and Marsanne grown on diverse soils composed of sand, clay, and fragments of calcareous rocks. These soils naturally filter water well and help produce fleshy, balanced wines. The 2023 vintage benefited from a dry and windy winter, followed by a wet spring that met the vine’s growth needs. Despite a hot summer, vines experienced moderate water stress and remained disease-free. Harvest began at the end of August and concluded in early October, yielding generous white grapes that delivered freshness and balance. The grapes were picked at ideal ripeness, sorted, and gently pressed for three hours. The juice was clarified after 24 hours and fermented at low temperatures to preserve aromatics. The wine was aged for nearly seven months on fine lees in stainless steel vats with regular stirring.

Tasting Notes

The wine shows a pale, bright golden color. On the nose, it is charming with aromas of orchard fruits such as fresh pear and white peach, accented by floral notes of honeysuckle. The palate is exceptionally fresh, offering lemony flavors, vine peach, and a slight mineral tone. Despite the dominance of Viognier in the blend, the wine remains light and elegant, finishing with notable length and refinement.
