About the Wine

1489 represents the year Château d’Estoublon was founded. It draws inspiration from the magnificent rose garden of Estoublon, where delicate roses meet the intense Provencal sun. The wine is crafted from AOP Coteaux d’Aix-en-Provence fruit in the western reaches of Provence, exclusively from the estate’s vineyards. Atop Provence’s volcanic crater, 50-year-old vines planted on clay-limestone soils at high elevations (1300+ft) thrive, benefiting from the Mistral wind. Fruit is hand-harvested in bunches, and undergoes temperature controlled fermentation in stainless steel. The blend of 80% Grenache and 20% Syrah promises a wine noted for its roundness, power, and complexity. This wine is presented in a personalized bottle adorned with a rose, making it a haute-couture cuvée. It comes in an elegant, playful, and bold packaging. The serpent serves as a symbol of seductive power, while the rose represents vitality and infuses floral, both embodying the essence of Estoublon’s “Garden of Eden.”

Tasting Notes

“This succulent, delicious version displays substance and tension, showing a fresh, vibrant mix of watermelon and blueberry flavors backed by talc-fine spice and mineral notes. Offers juicy roundness, with pink grapefruit–laced acidity powering its length. Accents of dried flowers, salty herbs and smoke grace the rich finish. Drink now through 2027.” -Wine Spectator

Pairing Notes

Elegant yet quietly powerful, 1489 Rosé shines alongside seasonal dishes that echo its refinement and depth. Its floral aromatics, stone fruit, and mineral nuance make it a versatile pairing for elevated Provençal and Mediterranean fare, such as herb-marinated grilled salmon, citrus roast chicken, lobster rolls, burrata with heirloom tomatoes, and mezze platters with a variety of dips, vegetables and fresh herbs.
