Profile & Story

Vini Alois farms on a plateau ringed by hills near the dormant volcano of Roccamonfina, not far from the Matese massif and Vesuvius, in the Caiatini foothills of Caserta province. Caulino is their Falanghina, grown on the Audelino vineyard (planted 2002, 158-400 metres, clay and volcanic soil, Guyot-trained), harvested in late September. Vinification is in stainless steel at 13-14 C for 30 days, with refining in steel and bottle for a further three months; about 50,000 bottles are produced at 13% alcohol.

Tasting Notes

Falanghina from Campania typically shows citrus and white-flower aromas with a note of ripe stone fruit, a dry, medium-bodied palate, crisp acidity and a lightly saline, mineral finish.
