G.D. Vajra is a family estate in Vergne, above Barolo, farming organically since 1971 - among the earliest in Piedmont to do so. Their Barbera d'Alba Superiore is a selection of the most heroic estate vines grown on steep limestone slopes, yielding small berries with thick skins and fragrant flavours - a Barbera that behaves like a Barolo after proper ageing.
Tasting Notes
The Barbera d'Alba Superiore shows a striking balance between energy and textural richness. The bouquet opens with violet flowers, candied wild blackberries and sweet spices; the palate offers fresh plum, menthol and balsamic notes, enhanced by a filigree of tannins and a long, lingering finish.
