About the Wine

Even though Petite Sirah has French roots, the lion's share of the world's Petite Sirah is planted in California and for good reason. It thrives in our typical California weather creating tightly formed bunches with its signature "petite" berries packed with flavor. Our Petite Sirah comes from a vineyard tucked away in the hilly west side of Paso Robles, specifically the Adelaida District. Similar to Zinfandel, we believe Petite Sirah is best grown with head trained vines reminiscent of miniature trees. Soils in the vineyard are primarily limestone creating mouthwatering acidity while adding almost a chalk like texture to the wine. This is a classic California Petite Sirah with dark fruits - blackberry, boysenberry, mouthwatering acidity, dark ink like color and big tannin structure. The label is of our grandfather Joe San Filippo. Joe was born and raised around Palermo, Sicily. While in his 20's he left his native country in search of the American dream. He immigrated to the United States and landed in Chicago. There the San Filippo family grew and eventually his dog Puff came along. Puff got his name because he looked like a puff ball. 98 cases produced
