Mar de Frades, the Galician estate of Rioja's Bodegas Ramon Bilbao, has been producing Albarino since 1987 in the heart of the Val do Salnes. Winemaker Paula Fandino, with the estate since 2007, sources from selected vineyards -- both estate-owned and independent growers -- farmed with respect for the Rias Baixas winegrowing culture. Grapes are hand-harvested into small crates, macerated using the Ganimede method for 8-10 hours to extract aroma while preserving the grape's saline character, and fermented with indigenous yeasts, with extended lees contact for volume and balance. Housed in the estate's iconic cobalt-blue bottle.
