Oyster Bay, founded by New Zealand's family-owned Delegat's Wine Estate, released its first Sauvignon Blanc vintage in 1990 and won Best Sauvignon Blanc at the 1991 International Wine & Spirit Competition -- helping put the assertive, aromatic Marlborough style on the world stage. Fruit is drawn from vineyards across the Wairau and Awatere Valleys, hand-selected from progressively later-ripening blocks, pressed and clarified before a slow, temperature-controlled fermentation and a short period of lees contact.
