Chateau Mukhrani is Georgia's original royal chateau estate, founded in 1878 by Ivane Mukhranbatoni, a descendant of the Bagrationi royal family who studied winemaking in Bordeaux and Champagne before building Georgia's first Western-style chateau. About 100 hectares are planted in Mtskheta, Kartli, mixing indigenous varieties such as Goruli Mtsvane and Saperavi with international grapes, using both modern European and traditional qvevri methods. This Goruli Mtsvane is a 100% varietal white made in stainless steel.
