Riecine was established in 1971 by John Dunkley and Palmina Abbagnano, who bought 1.5 hectares in Gaiole in Chianti and released their first Chianti Classico in 1973; the organically certified estate follows the philosophy of "growing wine rather than making it," with a deep commitment to Sangiovese and terroir. For this Chianti Classico, hand-selected, destemmed grapes ferment about 15 days in unglazed Nomblot cement tanks with a further 5 days of maceration, then age around 12 months in old tonneaux, large untoasted barrels and cement before blending and final natural stabilisation.
