Profile & Story

Astrolabe's flagship wine and the benchmark for high quality Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc. Astrolabe grapes are sourced entirely from unique Marlborough sites that add layers of complexity to the wines. Each site is chosen for the distinctive flavour it produces. We work with dedicated growers who understand the rhythms of the land and know how to grow grapes that express the terroir. The Astrolabe Province Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc is made from grapes grown across three Marlborough sub-regions: the Wairau Valley, the Awatere Valley and the Kēkerengū Coast. The blend of sites, soils and aspects within this wine gives it great complexity, reflecting both the capability of the region as a whole and my own palate. I have sought out sites across the whole Marlborough wine region, looking for different soils and climates and carefully managing cropping levels so that I have the best fruit to work from.

Tasting Notes

Aromas of lemongrass and lime peel, complemented by hints of white currant and red pepper. Medium bodied, it offers flavors of passionfruit, gooseberry, white peach, tropical fruits and citrus. Elegantly balanced, this wine finishes with a crisp, dry mineral note.
