Profile & Story
Il Poggione is a historic Montalcino estate now in its fifth generation under the Franceschi family, with Fabrizio Bindocci (viticulture from 1976, winemaking added 1999) now joined by son Alessandro. Rosso di Montalcino is produced entirely from Sangiovese sourced from the estate's younger vineyards and aged in large casks and barriques before further bottle aging, a style sometimes called a 'Young Brunello.'
Tasting Notes
A youthful, structured Sangiovese from Montalcino: bright sour-cherry and red-berry fruit over a savory, earthy core, firm but approachable tannins, dry food-ready finish.
