Domaine Louis Sipp has cultivated vines around Ribeauville, Alsace, since the 1920s and is one of the region's best-known family estates; the domaine converted to organic viticulture in 2005 and received ECOCERT certification in 2008. This Pinot Noir grows in the geologically fragmented Ribeauville fracture zone, on hard chalk, clay, marl, and sandstone soils suited to the variety's need for heavier, chalky ground and low yields.
Tasting Notes
Deep, intense red with glints of purple, showing red and black fruit on the nose. The palate is well-structured, fruity, ample, and long, with tannins still developing that will soften with a little more bottle age.
