Red Tail Ridge is a family-run, sustainably farmed estate on the western shore of Seneca Lake in New York's Finger Lakes, owned by winemakers Mike Schnelle and Nancy Irelan. Known primarily for Riesling, the estate also farms small plantings of Blaufrankisch as a varietal wine from its RTR estate vineyard.
Tasting Notes
Black cherry and baking-spice aromas lead into a palate of dark fruit, spice, and a touch of earth and leather, with medium-plus acidity and light tannins through a spicy finish -- a cool-climate New York expression of the grape's Central European character.
