Profile & Story
BloodRoot is a Healdsburg-based project spearheaded by Noah and Kelly Dorrance of Reeve Wines, working with winemaker Katy Wilson to craft serious, terroir-driven wines at value-minded prices. This Sonoma County Cabernet Sauvignon is a blend of 93% Cabernet Sauvignon, 6% Merlot, and 1% Cabernet Franc sourced from benchmark vineyards in Knights Valley, Rockpile, Sonoma Valley, and Dry Creek Valley. The wine is destemmed and fermented in small vessels for 24-38 days, then aged 27 months in a mix of French oak (38% new, 32% once-used, 30% neutral), finishing at 14.2% ABV.
Tasting Notes
The 2022 grew in a warm vintage that gave it plenty of depth while still showing the cool nights and varied nuances of its vineyard sources. It possesses notes of blueberry, cassis and coffee combined with more plant-based notes of sage and lavender, and on the palate it has dark berry, plum and cherry cola notes.
